Gillibrand introduces measure to make sure eligible senior's receive SNAP benefits they would be entitled to...
New York's Junior U.S. Senator is calling for passage of her legislation she says will help seniors put food on their table.  Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand has introduced her "Senior Hunger Prevention Act..." which would increase the minimum monthly SNAP benefit for all participants and eliminate unnecessary hurdles to make it easier for seniors to receive Supplimental Nutrition Assistance program benefits.  Gillibrand says it would simplify the application process for SNAP and other benefit programs, and expand food delivery options for people who can't get to the grocery store.  She says her legislation comes at a time of rising grocery... and, other price increases.  While up to 12-million seniors face food insecurity... she says less than a third of those eligible are enrolled in SNAP.  Gillibrand adds that her legislation would increase the monthly benefit available to all SNAP recipients... which is now $24 a month... and, would expand SNAP food delivery options.  She's pushing the bill in light of the $186-billion cut to SNAP in the president's "Big Beautiful Bill."

Langworthy's "Reliable Federal Infrastructure Act" approved in the U.S. House, now moves onto U.S. Senate...
The House of Representatives has passed local Congressman Nick Langworthy's "Reliable Federal Infrastructure Act..." which he says will advance efforts to cut energy costs... overturn "Green Deal" mandates... and, modernize federal construction standards.  The vote was 215-202 with five Democrats and one independent voting with Republicans in favor of the legislation.  Langworthy says the bill repeals rigid energy efficiency requirements imposed under part of the Energy Conservation and Production Act and reinforced by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.  The Buffalo-area Republican says that required federal agencies to "comply with one-size-fits-all building standards that often prioritize arbitrary efficiency targets over cost, practicality, and reliability." Langworthy says "this bill puts reliability and affordability back at the center of energy policy, where it belongs.  Through this legislation, we are ensuring that our critical federal infrastructure is tailored to meet Americans’ needs, not some arbitrary political target. It will help rein in inflated construction costs, accelerate project timelines, and foster innovation by removing rigid, top-down mandates."  The legislation now moves on to the Senate.
